Membership to CUIS is open to all. Membership is essential to facilitate
communication between Muslims on campus regarding specific issues (e.g.
sighting of the moon, agreeing days off study, Eid festivities). If there are
aspects that you disagree with, or feel could be improved, or there are
activities you would like to see offered; involvement allows you to play an
active role in influencing upcoming decisions and shaping the future direction
of the Society.
Membership also entitles you to a fresher’s pack which includes free posters,
year-planners, an introductory CUIS booklet providing much needed local
information (where to eat halal food, prayer timings) as well as other
goodies. You will be kept informed of our functions via regular emails, and
we can provide support and contacts should you request guidance. It provides
a channel of meeting other Muslims around campus as well as those in the local
community.
To join CUIS you will need to complete a membership form and provide details
allowing us to inform you of upcoming events and relevant issues, and to
recognise you as a registered member of CUIS. The information required is
straightforward and will be held in confidence.
The membership fee
for joining as of the year 2005/06 is
ONLY £2. This is much needed to help finance the ISOC and our events and
activities throughout the year. There will also be other opportunities
to donate to the ISOC during the academic year, but if you are
interested in donating to the ISOC now, then please go to the donation page
for details on how to donate.
