About Us

The Cardiff University Islamic Society (Cardiff ISoc) is an organisation formed by students, for students, to increase understanding about the religion of Islam and attempt to dispel the myths and misconceptions surrounding recent world events.

In addition, the society strives to support the Muslim student, to be free to practise their faith and socialise with peers in an otherwise intimidating environment.

Cardiff ISoc is chartered through the Cardiff University Students Union and is an affiliate of the Federation of Student Islamic Societies in the UK (FOSIS). FOSIS is the premier Muslim Student representative body, as well as the Muslim Council of Wales.

We respect differences of opinion both amongst Muslims and other faiths.

The Cardiff University Islamic Society (ISoc) is an organisational body conceived, and managed, by students to provide support to Muslim student in the practice of his/her faith and an opportunity to socialise with peers in an otherwise intimidating new environment. Cardiff ISoc and its events are open to all, regardless of race, gender or creed

In addition, we also facilitate understanding on and around campus about the religion of Islam as a comprehensive way of life, providing authoritative information, references and reflection on Islam, Muslims and the Muslim World, and attempting to dispel the myths and misconceptions surrounding recent world events.

We co-ordinate various activities including weekly religious circles, lectures, dinners, sporting programmes as well as specialised activities during other special occasions. Islam Awareness week is the highlight of the academic year comprising an assortment of events and exhibits to allow a greater understanding of the faith primarily amongst the general public as well as Muslims.
